A low-level cloud that forms a grey or white layer. Can reach down to the ground and is persistent in nature.

Low-level cloud that is featureless, dull and gives defuse light conditions

Stratus- to spread out, extend, flatten, layer.

How was it made?

In order for Stratus clouds to form conditions need to be calm and stable.

What weather will you have if these are overhead?

Boring weather will be instore.

How high is it?

The base is anywhere from 0 m (0ft)  upto 400m (1,200 ft)
The top can reach 15,000 - 18,000 m (45,000 - 52,000 ft)

It's going to be a grey day with potential for drizzle and that murky dull feel to the sky.
