What is nsfw asmr and why are so many searching for nsfw asmr?
NSFW ASMR are two acronyms that can make you hot under the collar or shy to look at the content in public, but times and standards do change. Sound and video examples of what is now recognised as ASMR, but in its time was just seen as erotic and fascinating can be found on the internet.
NSFW stands for Not Safe For Work, and ASMR stands for Autonomous sensory meridian response.
Some ASMR is also NSFW because of the sexual and erotic nature of the content. ASMR content is often combining pleasure, intimacy and care. The intimate nature and resulting sensory response make such content not work-friendly.
Some famous ASMR were NSFW when they first came out but now are everyday content and even thought of as cute!
Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg - Je t'aime... moi non plus.
In 1967 Serge Gainsbourg wrote the song Je t'aime... moi non plus for his girlfriend Brigette Bardot. In the UK, Serge recorded a new version with his new girlfriend, Jane Birkin, at a Marble Arch studio. The year was 1968, and the young English actress was asked to sing it an octave higher than the Bardot version. The final song has resulted in what many have observed as an ASMR effect.
Undoubtedly the lyrics are sexual in nature, but as it was recorded in French, the vast majority of English speaking people would have been oblivious to the meaning of words and only appreciated the musical sounds, emotion and passion of the performance.
The first mention of ASMR
The first mention of ASMR like effects is back in 2007, with the phenomena growing from that date, but obviously, the effect has been around since humans could appreciate such feelings. So the runaway success of Je t'aime... could well be down to people being exposed to the whispery ASMR in an NSFW format before we knew what NSFW or ASMR was!
Other sources of Je t'aime... moi non plus.
One of the most well known is the John Smith bitter advert in which two romantically engaged ladybirds are seen running together and embracing while the song plays in the background.
One thought that did cross my mind is if once you see this advert, does the ASMR effect still hold true or is it the passage of time that has stripped the original song of the spin-tingling effect I observed as a child?
It seems to have the desired effect on the ladybirds still, but one can no longer say that this particular ASMR is in any way NSFW!
If you want to experience ASMN then I can recommend this book ASMR Book of Head Tingles
